Established in 2008 as a mobile diesel fitting operation, now a full workshop, field service fleet and the authorised Kobelco dealer for Townsville and Mackay.

Our story

Sixteen years of keeping North Queensland moving.

SOS Diesel Services began in 2008 as a dedicated mobile diesel fitting operation, earning a reputation for reliability across North Queensland.

As demand grew, so did we. In 2017 we moved into a fully equipped permanent workshop, expanding both the team and the service fleet to support customers throughout Townsville and the surrounding regions.

On 1 July 2024 we became the official Kobelco excavator dealer for the Townsville region, a milestone built on more than 40 years of combined experience in the heavy machinery industry.

Reliable work, minimal downtime

We provide mechanical support that keeps machinery at peak performance, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency. Timely, effective solutions delivered with reliability and integrity on every job.

Thirteen skilled people

Office staff, parts interpreters, workshop technicians and roster staff, from apprentices through to Cert III qualified mechanical mining technicians. Ten vehicles, two with cranes for fieldwork.

Done once, done right

Only top tier parts and equipment go into our work, and we back it with a warranty covering parts and labour. We keep our training current so we stay ahead of what is arriving in the field.

Community support

More than a workshop.

We are proud to be an active part of our community, and we put our money and our machines behind organisations doing good work in the north.

Each year we support the Special Children’s Christmas Party in Townsville. We back safe and responsible riding through the Rockhampton and Townsville Motorcycle Clubs, and sponsor the Townsville BMX Club because sport builds discipline and teamwork in young people. We support the Variety 4WD Adventure and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Ryan School Spring Fair, which raises funds for local school programs and facilities.

Do you offer mobile services?
Yes. Our field service team brings maintenance and repairs to your location across North Queensland, with technicians equipped to handle most jobs on site.
What types of diesel engines do you work on?
Everything from light machinery to heavy duty plant, trucks, trailers, buses, marine vessels, forklifts, earthmoving equipment and standalone machinery.
How do I book a service?
Call us, email the workshop, or send the enquiry form. We will confirm a time that suits your run.
Do you warrant your work?
Yes. Our warranty covers both parts and labour on the work we carry out.
What are your operating hours?
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Outside those hours, leave a message or send the enquiry form and we will pick it up first thing.
